I'm baaaaack! Yes I went MIA for a while and I apologize.
It's that time of year again when we begin to think about how we'll improve ourselves in the new year. One thing that has caught my interest recently is Personality Types. I did the 16 Personalities (<- click for the test) test when a friend suggested it and the results blew me away. I actually wondered if they tapped my brain 😁. This specific test is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. From your answers to the questions or situations posed, they determine your personality type and analyze you in 7 areas.
The 16 Personalities test is a personality assessment that divides people into 16 different personality types. The test is based on the work of Carl Jung, who believed that personality is made up of four dichotomies:
- Introversion (I) vs. Extraversion (E): How do you prefer to get your energy? Do you prefer to focus on your own thoughts and feelings (I) or on the outside world and other people (E)?
- Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): How do you prefer to take in information? Do you prefer to focus on the concrete details of the present moment (S) or on the big picture and possibilities (N)?
- Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): How do you make decisions? Do you prefer to use logic and reason (T) or your personal values and emotions (F)?
- Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): How do you prefer to deal with the world? Do you prefer to have a plan and stick to it (J) or be more flexible and spontaneous (P)?
So what do you do with the information after you would have discovered your personality type? This is the good part. You use it to help you in aspects of your life. For example, I'm ISFJ so if i wanted to relax or find a new hobby, I'd just research the best ways for ISFJ to relax.
Another thing you can do is to encourage others around you to take the test. From there you can learn about the best ways to do something kind for them or how to approach a difficult conversation with them.
I'm no psychologist but I am a scientist so why not try it? It's a free test and the only way to find out how accurate you think it is, is to try it. Be honest with yourself too because you do want accurate results. If we really want to improve our relationship with ourself and with the people around us, I think this would be a good starting point.

Did I read past the link for the test? Does any test suffice in providing this info? You have me thinking since I am trying to change my direction right now.
