A green thumb is not genetic & I've proven that!😁 Despite this, I'm still trying.
Rule 1 - Don't leave the plants outside during a freeze.
Before the freeze After the freeze
See what I mean?
Note - this is the 2nd aloe plant that's died under my watch.
Rule 2 - Don't over water succulents.
What is over-watering for succulents? I'm convinced that it's anything other than a sprinkle or they die.
Rule 3 - Coffee grounds CAN kill your plants
I mentioned to a classmate in passing that I dry my coffee grounds and mix them into the soil. That's when I found out that coffee can be poisonous to plants 😟. That explained a lot, a whole lot. However if you do want to know how to use coffee grounds as fertilizer, this article seems to have some good information.
As for me, I've started composting in this old foam cooler (I'll skip that picture). I've added soil and my peelings and eggshells. The goal is to grow some vegetables - cherry tomatoes, spinach and lettuce.
The bright side
Now it's not all bad. A few are still surviving. They don't look great but there's hope.
I'm trying to give them sunlight and just enough water. The 1st and 3rd plants need to be repotted.
Along the way I've even tried a plant app that tells you when and how much to water them. Wanna know what's important though? Actually opening the app😂.
The lessons learned from this venture into plant-mom life -
- Don't give up, something might work out.
- Learn and grow
🌴Plant and grow my friends, plant and grow!!!🌳

Good luck with your plant babies! You'll get there! Meanwhile I'm still trying to give me a bedtime like a responsible adult 😅
